Who isn’t drawn to twinkly Christmas lights?

But, sadly, they pose dangers especially for toddlers like one 2-year-old who was in a mall in Quezon City with her family.

She was waiting with her dad Tommy dela Rosa, for her mom at around 7 p.m. last Sunday when she accidentally set her hands on a connector of a Christmas lights display.

This caused a sudden electric shock resulting in injuries on her fingers.

Dela Rosa told abs-cbnnews.com that although the mall’s on-duty nurses reported to the scene, his daughter was only given first aid at the mall basement.

After they checked her injuries, no ambulance was provided and so Dela Rosa used his own car to take his daughter to the hospital, where they arrived at 8 p.m.

The family of the injured girl plan to file a complaint against the establishment for negligence.

Police officers arrived at the mall the next day to investigate but they were not allowed to enter.

The Management of the mall has issued an official statement on the incident saying, “The 2-year old girl who sustained injuries on her fingers was given first aid treatment and administered at the mall clinic. She was later brought to a nearby hospital for further examination and treatment, and is now in good condition. Management is looking into the matter to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.”
