Their new beginning was two years in the making.

Two years after super typhoon Yolanda made its third landfall in Cebu, 200 families who lost their homes and belongings have been welcomed into their new typhoon-resilient homes.

Thanks to France-Philippines United Action (FP-UA), the 200 homes were built in the barangays of Agujo and Paypay, which lie almost 3 hours north of Cebu City.

The Red Cross Village in Daangbantayan Cebu will serve as a new beginning for many families who are still in the process of rebuilding their lives two years after the devastation of the strongest typhoon to ever make landfall in our country's history.

The project was funded by various French companies and amounted to up to $ 1.5 million.

With the help of organizations such as Habitat for Humanity Philippines, Sanofi, Total and the French Red Cross, the community was created.

Aside from homes, the French Habitat and Red Cross villages also have a barangay health station, livelihood center, day care center, and multipurpose center.

The Cebu provincial government also helped this project push through by donating the land upon which the habitat village was built.

The FP-UA are now starting a new project in Bogo, another town in Cebu which was hardest hit by Yolanda.
