Every mother is very excited when they babies will finally come out.
But most of the moms is getting nervous, especially the first time moms who don’t have any idea about labor and asking “how is the pain during labor?” Also why they have a discharge, if it is normal? They don’t even know if it’s a mucus plug already.
Those moms who keeps worry because they are near in their due date but still no signs of labor and also the moms who’s stuck in their ‘cm’ and asking what to do more to open more their cervix.
In my experience with my three children, they give me different experiences in my labor. I have only one OB, my first and second child I gave birth on the clinic of my OB while my third child I gave birth in a hospital because my OB did not open her clinic for giving birth because of the pandemic.
It all started when I am 20 years old when I gave birth on my 1st child. One morning, when I went to my OB for my weekly check-up and then she has done internal examination to me me. Later, about 2 pm, I started to have a tolerable contractions.
I went to my OB right away when my contractions started. I am first time mom that time so I thought when I feel contractions my baby will come out any moment.
When I came in, my OB she said the baby not yet ready to go out because I can even smile. She wants me to go home but I didn’t leave because I really feel it that my baby will come out.
Around 4:30 pm, my contractions became stronger and last 30-70 seconds and comes about 5mins or less, its so painful and as a first time mom I don’t even have an idea how’s the right to push my baby out.
And finally, around 5pm my 1st baby come out. I am so happy to see her and hear her cry.
On my second child experience, I’ve just attended a parent orientation in the school of my first child and the next day early in the morning around 2am I started to feel tolerable contractions, we started to walk from our to house to my OB.
I contact my OB since it is very early she might be sleeping. When she answer it she ask me to go a hospital for IE.
When we came to the hospital and they will IE me there, I saw blood in my undies. It’s my first experience of having a blood discharge, without knowing its a mucus plug already.
So I felt nervous, there’s a questions going through my mind like “Is my baby safe? “Is my baby okay?
After I went to the hospital, my OB asked me to go to her clinic for me to get ready on giving birth on my second child.
When I lay down on the bed, I feel parang ‘natatae’ . So, when I feel that, pinipigilan ko without knowing it’s my baby na pala. I didn’t experience all that in my first child that’s why I don’t have any idea.
So my OB keeps checking me and she said hindi pa masyadong bukas ang cervix ko. And suddenly napaisip ko kung i-push ko kaya wag ko pigilan, and then yun lang pala, hinihintay ng OB ko kasi nag-open na lalo yung cervix ko.
If I’ve already known, sana pala sa una pa lang na naramdaman ko yung parang natatae, dapat inire ko na. Its just weird that I didn’t experience that feeling on my first child even the mucus plug.
Around 5am my second child, a baby girl was born. We are so happy specially my first child because she already saw her baby sister.
Last April 2022, I gave birth to my third child. Finally, it’s a baby boy.
This time I am a VIP member of TAP, I used this app for my baby tracker for more information. It just mean that I have a lot more ideas for my pregnancy and what to watch for during labor.
This is the only time I know about mucus plug that I experience in my second child.
So, it happens when I just attended my 1st child recognition in her school and the next day as early as 1 in the morning I feel tolerable contractions. So, I know that when I started to feel it any moment my baby will come out.
This time, I used a timer to time how long and in between my contractions. I’m trying to sleep but I can’t.
Around 3am I tell my husband that were going to my OB because my contractions become stronger. I call my OB and as usual because its early in the morning she said I should go to the hospital for IE to check if my cervix is open. And when I get there and they IE me, they said that my cervix is closed but I have a mucus plug.
That’s weird because he is my only child that they said that my cervix still close but I’m already in labour.
They call my OB and told her, while waiting for them, I feel really hurt contractions a very strong one I want to finish it. I want my baby come out. I am crying because of the pain. During my super strong contractions, my water bag breaks. (oh no !)
This is my first time to experience that, so I’m so afraid now because I never experience it before I tell the nurses to call my OB and go now in the hospital so I can give birth to my child.
They put me in delivery room. This is the first time na kailangan ko pigilan kasi lalabas na talaga ang baby ko kaso wala pa ‘yong OB ko.
When my OB came she is preparing all the things needed. They put dextrose, anesthesia and more. While they are busy still the pain is their you don’t know where you gonna hold because of the pain.
When my OB gonna check my cervix she saw that the head of my baby is already coming out that’s why she said I need to one more push after that my baby finally come out.
I’m so happy because finally we have a baby boy.
In my three children I have three experiences of labor and giving birth. I have learned a lot from this experiences and I have a lot of realizations.
As a first time mom that time, I don’t have any idea about labor. (Hindi pala lahat ng mommies kapag nagsimula ng contractions eh manganganak na, ‘yong iba itakes more days o weeks.)
As a second time mom, I realized that there is a mucus plug happens when you are in labour (Hindi lahat ng mommies, kapag nagka-mucus plug eh manganganak na agad katulad ko oras lng binilang, yung iba it take more days.)
As a third time mom, this time I felt nervous, and scared but excited to see my baby. Yes, its true, even its my third time still there is the nervous feeling.
I only experience from him that my cervix still close but i know i’m already in labour, i already have mucus plug and contractions.
I experienced also that my water bag breaks because from my first and second child, my OB is the ones who will break my water bag.
What’s the best in my labor? When I started to feel contractions I know that my baby will come out any moment.
My labour happened in a short period of time and I deliver them in safe and normal delivery.
The pain is worth, when my babies come out.
