General Nakar in Quezon is one of the hidden gems that the province of Quezon has to offer. Named after a wartime hero, General Nakar has seen it’s share of ups and downs, as it struggled with problems in illegal logging, communist occupation, as well as calamities due to it’s location in the country’s typhoon belt.

These days, General Nakar is slowly coming back, and boy does it seem like such an amazing place! The great thing about General Nakar is that it’s located conveniently in Quezon, so traveling there is pretty straightforward. Additionally, the beaches and waterfalls in the area are basically untouched, due to most tourists neglecting the area.

So this summer, why not take the road less traveled, and try visiting General Nakar? We’re sure that it’ll be an amazing experience for you and your kids.

2. Quirino

Quirino, located in the Cagayan Valley, and a former part of Nueva Vizcaya, is pretty similar to General Nakar in that it’s not yet turned into a “tourist trap”.

This means that the places that you’ll visit will be more natural, and you’ll really feel that you’re in touch with nature. Quirino has a lot of great rivers and falls, and it’s something different from the regular beach visit that families do during the summer.

3. Laguna

Aside from the usual hot springs and resorts, there are a lot of hiking and camping activities that you and your family can engage in. You can also visit a number of historic towns that preserved their appearance since the time of the Spaniards!
