Don’t Sweat it Mama: A Pregnancy Safe Aluminum Free Deodorant is Here!

During pregnancy, it is normal for mamas to experience changes in the body, especially those that are related to the skin. And as you share your body with your little one, there are quite a few things you would be needing to change as you enter through this new chapter together. In this article, we share the things you need to know about skincare products that are safe for pregnancy, especially products like aluminum free deodorant.

Aside from food consumptions and dietary restrictions, some of your trusted skin care products will also have to take a back seat. This includes reasons such as safety. In fact, certain ingredients get absorbed by your body and therefore, your baby’s too!

But don’t sweat it Mamas! Let us break it down for you to find that balance between your healthy skin and glow and you and your baby’s safety!

Dont Sweat it Mama: A Pregnancy Safe Aluminum Free Deodorant is Here!

Ingredients To Avoid During Pregnancy

It can be a bit challenging to find a deodorant during pregnancy that works best against unwanted odor while keeping your skin and baby healthy. Nonetheless, here are some ingredients you must watch out for.

  1. Aluminum
One of the most common ingredients in our regular antiperspirants is aluminum which is a substance that physically blocks the sweat glands to avoid sweaty pits! During pregnancy, it’s normal for our bodies to sweat to control and regulate our body temperature. This means we don’t want to stop this from happening but we want to make sure we stay fresh while it’s happening!
  2. Parabens
You would also want to steer clear of parabens, which are preservatives used for their antimicrobial properties in storing our favorite products to ensure the prevention of mold, yeast or bacteria growth. Though it keeps these products fresh, not the same goes for our growing bodies. Parabens are also known as an endocrine disruptors which simply means it can affect the hormones in the body which can influence abnormal growth.
  3. Fragrance
Another thing is fragrance, as much as possible avoid any products with the mention of ‘scent’ ‘parfume’ or ‘aroma’, fragrance can contain ingredients not suitable for sensitive skin or other harsh chemicals that might not be good for you and your baby. Most of the time, fragrances are also known as trade secrets by companies. Therefore, there’s little to no chances for us to get down to the bottom list of the ingredients they used in creating them.

Natural Alternatives

Now that we’ve listed all potentially harmful ingredients in deodorant or antiperspirants that you’d want to avoid, let’s go through pregnancy safe alternatives! There are a lot of natural options that we can use instead!

Feel free to try these natural alternatives to see which works best for you, after all everyone is different.

  1. Baking Soda
To keep yourself odor free and dry – try baking soda for those underarms! However, if you generally have dry, and sensitive skin this might not be the one for you! This can also leave that ash-y feel as time goes by.
  2. Coconut Oil
If you’re looking for a more fresh feeling, try coconut oil! Coconut oils are known for their antibacterial benefits which helps in reducing the bacteria particularly in moist areas; however, oils are also high on the comedogenic scale which means they are most likely to clog pores.
  3. Lemon
Another option is a fresh lemon squeeze, if you’re chasing after that fresh-scent, lemon squeeze might be for you. Aside from the natural scent, lemons also have natural bleaching properties that can aid in fading dark spots and pigmentation in your underarms. A downside of using this can be the sticky post-application feeling.

Must Try Alternative: Aluminum Free Deodorant

Keeping all those in mind, allow us to share you some body care products that addresses all your worries being a new mama! We can assure you that there’s a perfect balance of keeping it fresh and protecting your little one.
