Anak TV has been recognizing kid-friendly TV programs since 1996 through its Makabata (pro-child) seal awards. For 2015, a total of 31 media personalities were declared family-friendly in a recognition ceremony held on February 23, 2016.
According to the foundation’s Facebook account, Anak TV aims to “promote media literacy, particularly television literacy, and push the agenda for child-sensitive, family-friendly television in the Philippines.”
Worth emulating by the youth
Four local celebrities were inducted into the “Makabata (Pro-child) Hall of Fame” because they consistently topped the surveys for the past 8 years. They are Ted Failon, Kim Atienza, Kim Chiu and Toni Gonzaga.
Toni posted on her Instagram that young viewers “have always been a great inspiration.”
Furthermore, a national jury selected the top TV personalities considered “credible, wholesome and worth emulating by the youth.” Toni’s sister Alex is following in her footsteps and was recognized too. The list also includes power couple AlDub and new parents DongYan.
