It’s now pretty common for the babies of celebrities to have their own Instagram accounts, but what’s troubling is how these accounts, which are intended to bring good vibes can also attract bashers.
You’d think that these innocent young ones would be spared from the harsh judgment that is sadly rampant on social media, but they’re not.
One dad is standing up to these “online trolls”. GP Reyes, the husband of radio jock/model Andi Manzano and dad of the adorable Olivia a.k.a baby O, fired back at bashers in his latest Instagram post.
“Olivia is my princess, and nothing will diminish the joy she gives us or the happiness she brings to the rest of the people here that love her.”
“There are a few things more intense than the love of a dad for his daughter. And in the past few months, I’ve been noticing idiotic trolls in the IG comments section bashing my kid, making comparisons and s**t.,” he began, acknowledging that haters are now a part of social media.
“I don’t give a flying f*** whether we’re not as rich, or you don’t think my daughter is as pretty, or as smart, or popular or has as many followers or whatever. Dude, Olivia is my princess, and nothing will diminish the joy she gives us or the happiness she brings to the rest of the people here that love her,” he wrote.
The protective dad then explained the initial purpose of Olivia’s Instagram account: to be able to share their family’s joy of having her around. Olivia was born in March 2015 and she’ll soon be turning 2 years old.
“We’re not in this for popularity or competition. They’re babies for crying out loud!” GP went on, urging the haters to unfollow them and just leave them be.
Though many feel entitled to the private lives of celebrities and their babies, no one has the right to be harsh and unkind. Social media doesn’t have to be a hostile place. Let us all be kind, online and offline.
