Architect and artist John Carlo (JC) Vargas presents his latest exhibition, “The Polluted Palette,” at the Menarco Vertical Museum in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. This solo exhibition, featuring 37 paintings, seeks to raise awareness about the impact of toxic air pollution on the streets of Metro Manila and the lives of its street children.

In this collection of paintings meticulously crafted using pigments derived from air pollutants, JC Vargas offers vivid and thought-provoking works of art that provide a unique perspective on the critical issue of air pollution in the Philippines. Beyond art, this initiative is a call to action, as a portion of the proceeds from the sale of paintings at the exhibition will be donated to organizations dedicated to improving the lives of street children. Among these beneficiaries is Childhope Philippines Foundation, Inc., a non-government organization committed to promoting the well-being of street children through holistic development opportunities and alternative education sessions.

JC Vargas articulates the exhibition’s purpose: “This exhibition is not just about art; it’s about raising awareness and making a positive impact on our community. As an artist, I believe in the power of art to provoke thought, inspire change, and bring people together. ‘The Polluted Palette’ embodies these ideals as it sheds light on the issue of air pollution in Manila and the often-overlooked lives of street children who call our city streets home.”
