We shouldn’t judge moms who don’t breastfeed

Bianca Gonzalez took to Instagram and shared her experience when her daughter Lucia weaned when she was two years old.

Bianca admitted that when she had Lucia, she felt like she was under a lot of pressure to breastfeed her child. “Til now I don’t know whether I myself was pressured, or it was really something I wanted to do; it could be both,” she recounted.

She also “would never judge a mother who chose to or who chooses to mix feed or give formula at some point.”

“I strongly believe that whatever is best for baby’s health and whatever is best for mommy’s health and well-being (and sanity, to be honest) is what is best,” she adds.

One mom shared that she planned to breastfeed until her baby was two, but stress caused her milk supply to dwindle.

Another mom said that she had to resign from work because the formula milk cost even more than her salary.

And yet another mom shared that when her son started weaning, she felt like he didn’t need her anymore.

Bianca also shared that when her daughter started weaning, she felt the same way, and she was emotional for about a week.

She also urged moms to stop with the shaming and criticism, and to instead be supportive of one another. “Motherhood is difficult enough and we definitely could use all the support and guidance we can get from other moms.”
