As parents, we want only the best for our kids – from the best diapers to the best schools and even the best birthday party they could ever have. But of course, not all families are well-off, just like ours.

So for our kids’ parties, we always choose to be practical, but we make it a point that we still give them the best party we can afford.

Our kids’ awesome budget-friendly birthday party

For both of our kids’ first birthday, my husband and I decided that we didn’t want to spend a lot because we think that at that age, they can’t really remember anything yet about the party. However, we still wanted to have a simple celebration to make memories. So, we decided to have their dedication at their first birthday party too.

For our kid’s birthday party on a budget, we looked for a place where we can accommodate a small number of guests, and gladly, we found La Ne Kitchen located in Dasmarinas, Cavite. We chose this place because it has a good ambiance and can accommodate the number of our guests. Plus, they already have packages that include food and even styling and sounds. Less hassle, right? That is why we booked them for my youngest son’s party too.

We just made the other designs and giveaways ourselves that were in line with the theme of the party.

Speaking of theme, I wanted it to be simple that is why with my eldest we had a black and white-colored theme while for my second son, we went for red and green since his birthday was around the Christmas season.

We also asked the guests to wear the same colors in the theme so it will look more organized and much nicer in photos, too. They were so game about it.

We’re also thankful for friends who gladly lent their talent in photography and hosting for our birthday party on a budget.

The whole experience of planning a party was really fun because we enjoyed being hands-on in every detail.

Our guests had a great time as well. They said that it was a breath of fresh air attending a more intimate party because it the atmosphere was just chill and fun.

Our kids may not appreciate it yet, but we know that they saw how happy the people around them were in celebrating their life.

Tips on planning a birthday party on a budget

How were we able to pull it off? Just proper planning and execution. Here are some tips that I can share in planning a budget-friendly birthday party:

Plan ahead of time.

Try to plan the event 3 to 6 months before the party so you can prepare everything and not be in a rush. It also helps you allocate enough budget and more time to source out suppliers or make more time for your DIY’s.

Pick a theme.

Having a party theme makes the celebration more fun. When you have a theme in mind, it is much easier to plan and all the supplies will revolve around that theme.

Having a hard time thinking of a theme or executing the one that your child wants? Pinterest has a lot of inspiration you can choose from. For example, with my eldest son, we had panda/black and white-themed party while we had a Christmas-colored theme for my 2nd one because his birthday falls in December.

DIY is the key.

Nowadays, everyone is fond of do-it-yourself stuff and that’s what will make your kid’s party more memorable. You be as hands-on with the designs as you want, and it is also a way to bond with your partner and family members.

Order supplies online.

Though prices on online shops are higher, it can help you scout for supplies more efficiently. It also saves you time and energy instead of going to the mall or stores. You would also be surprised with the wide variety ofchoices but be mindful of your cart and don’t check out everything.

Celebrate at home or rent a small event place.

Celebrating at home is also is a big nod for a birthday party on a budget. You don’t have to pay for the rental, and you can DIY more. Or just like what we did, you can search for a budget-friendly event place near you.

Consider ordering food.

While cooking for our kid’s birthday celebration is really a good idea, ordering food online is another option. It lessens your stress because you won’t get tired of cooking and you will have more time to enjoy the party as well.

Keep a small guest list.

Invite only the people who are close to you and your kid’s heart. While we all want to celebrate with the people around us, it also good to celebrate with the ones whom you know your kids love.

Ask for help from your friends.

If you have talented friends or relatives who can help you design, do DIY giveaways or even host the party, go and ask them. For sure, they will be more than willing to help.

Stick to your budget.

As parents, we want to give the best to our kids, including the party that they dream of.  But sticking to our budget is also important. It is a good way to practice how we handle our finances as well. You may go overboard a little but still, be mindful of your budget.

Enjoy the party with your kids.

Planning your kid’s party is a tough task. It requires a lot of energy and money from you. But don’t forget to enjoy the moment and have fun with your guests and of course, your kids too. Don’t feel guilty about the things you can’t afford to give them. You may not be able to give the materials things they want, but your love, time, and effort will always be enough for them.

Happy planning and enjoy!
