Sometimes we can’t help but underestimate kids for being, well, kids. Most of the time, however, they possess more enterprise than we give them credit for.

The case of this eight-year-old boy from California is the epitome of this, especially after saving his two-year-old brother from his kidnapper.

According to a Yahoo! report, he was with his mother and brother when the incident happened near a Glendale elementary school. A stranger came up to them then and tried to grab the two-year-old boy.

In the middle of the harrowing experience, the boys’ mother managed to call the emergency hotline 911, but because of her heavy accent, she let his eldest son talk to the dispatcher.

Thankfully, the boy was able to tell to relay the necessary details.

“It didn’t happen to me, it happened to my little brother,” the boy spoke into the phone. “He was walking, sneaking past us and trying to get the baby out of our hands.

“He said, ‘You have a beautiful kid,’ and tried to get the baby out of our hand. And then she hit my mom, and I said ‘let my brother go’ very strongly.”

“We were guarding my little brother, so she couldn’t take him,” he said.

Describing the kidnapper, the boy said it was a man but looked like a lady.

“We weren’t sure,” he said. “Her…his voice looked like a girl but he looked like a man.”

Meanwhile, according to a press release issued by the Glendale Police Department, a similar incident was reported just 20 minutes earlier.

A CCTV footage supported the boy’s report. In it the mother can be seen pushing a stroller carrying her infant child. Then their attacker approached them and grabbed the child out of the stroller.

The attacker was later identified as 52-year-old Lisa Arnold. She has since been arrested and taken into custody on two counts of attempted kidnapping involving a child under the age of 14.
