Bruno Mars would give up music to be with his late Pinoy mom again

Bruno Mars is truly one of this generation’s greatest artists, who’s gained critical acclaim while penning chart-topping hit after hit, but he’d gladly trade all the fame and success just to be with his mom again.

In a recent interview with Latina Magazine, the Puerto Rican-Filipino singer spoke about how much he misses his departed mom.

“She’s more than my music,” Bruno said in the magazine’s cover story. “If I could trade music to have her back, I would. I always hear her say, ‘Keep going and keep doing it.'”

In the same interview, the 31-year-old gushed about how his mom taught him how “to love” and “what a woman is supposed to be”.

Before he became a worldwide superstar, Bruno was born Peter Hernandez in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, Pedrito Hernandez, was Puerto Rican. He grew up in a musical family that encouraged him to perform and create.

In a recent feature on Passion Cafe TV, Bruno opened up about his humble beginnings, offering a glimpse into their simple home he shared with his parents and five siblings—Eric, Tiara, Tahiti, Jaime, and Presley– that was adjacent to a zoo where his father took on odd jobs to make ends meet.

Looking back, Bruno only saw the joy in what some may view as a difficult past. By the age of 25, he had broken into the music industry with his debut album earning him various Grammy nods.
