Bruno Mars is truly one of this generation’s greatest artists, who’s gained critical acclaim while penning chart-topping hit after hit, but he’d gladly trade all the fame and success just to be with his mom again.
In a recent interview with Latina Magazine, the Puerto Rican-Filipino singer spoke about how much he misses his departed mom.
“She’s more than my music,” Bruno said in the magazine’s cover story. “If I could trade music to have her back, I would. I always hear her say, ‘Keep going and keep doing it.'”
In the same interview, the 31-year-old gushed about how his mom taught him how “to love” and “what a woman is supposed to be”.
“If I could trade music to have her back, I would. I always hear her say, ‘Keep going and keep doing it.'”
Before he became a worldwide superstar, Bruno was born Peter Hernandez in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, Pedrito Hernandez, was Puerto Rican. He grew up in a musical family that encouraged him to perform and create.
In a recent feature on Passion Cafe TV, Bruno opened up about his humble beginnings, offering a glimpse into their simple home he shared with his parents and five siblings—Eric, Tiara, Tahiti, Jaime, and Presley– that was adjacent to a zoo where his father took on odd jobs to make ends meet.
Looking back, Bruno only saw the joy in what some may view as a difficult past. By the age of 25, he had broken into the music industry with his debut album earning him various Grammy nods.
