Though popular media discourages parents form sleeping with their babies, co-sleeping actually has plenty of medical benefits. Babies who sleep with their parents sleep better and are said to be physically and emotionally healthier than babies who sleep in cribs.

Plenty of parents are now choosing to co-sleep, because of the aforementioned advantages, and also just because it’s a great way to bond with their babies. These celebrity parents spoke up about sleeping with their children.

1. Gwen Stefani

Stefani has three children with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale: Kingston, 10; Zuma, 8; and Apollo, 2. The 46-year-old pop star told Stylist in 2011 about how she co-slept with Zuma, who was then 3 years old.

“I don’t want to look back and say, ‘Oh my God, I didn’t sleep with Zuma that time because I was too tired,’ so I’ll just snuggle up with him tonight,” she said. “It’s probably why I work as I hard as I do—I don’t want to look back and see the things I didn’t do.”

2. Angelina Jolie

Jolie and her husband Brad Pitt have a famously huge brood of eight kids, but that hasn’t stopped them from co-sleeping, or as they would call it, “family sleep.” They even have a huge bed just for that purpose! “That means everybody crawls into our bed,” she told Vanity Fair in 2011. “And we actually have a giant bed. We had sheets specially made. I don’t know if it’s twice as big [as a king], but it’s notably bigger.

“Everybody files in and we watch a movie. It breaks all the rules. Mommy and Daddy are very tired the next morning. We have that in L.A., and when we hang out in France, we’ve got it there. When we had two kids, the nine-foot bed was extraordinary. With three, it was verging. Now, at six, it’s tight. We end up pulling the couches to the sides. We’re thinking of building a room just for family sleep.”

“Mason and Penelope still sleep in my bed,” Kardashian told Redbook in 2014. “It’s what came naturally to me; I didn’t plan it. When I had Mason, I just felt really attached to him, and wanted to bring him everywhere. He ended up sleeping with me, and I breastfed for 14 months.”

In 2009, Klum told German magazine Gala that she co-slept with her youngest child Lou, just as she did with her three other children with then-husband Seal. “She needs to be close to her mother,” she said. “She will sleep now for a year with us in our bedroom—just as her siblings did. It’s easier at night if she is hungry.”

5. Alicia Silverstone

Silverstone is a huge advocate of attachment parenting, and though some of her parenting methods have raised a few eyebrows here and there, we can’t call her “clueless” for advocating co-sleeping. In her book The Kind Mama, a whole chapter is devoted to co-sleeping. “Sharing a bed with Baby means you can tune in better to her needs, which in turn builds security and trust,” Silverstone wrote.
