The causes of skin allergies in children can be attributed to a lot of different factors. It can be caused by plants, reactions to food or medication, or an illness.

Eczema
Eczema is present in at least 10% of children worldwide. It is a type of condition that manifests as dry, red, itchy patches on the skin.

Hives and Swelling
Hives, also knows as urticaria, manifest as red bumps or patches on the skin. They can also be triggered by allergic reactions.
The main causes of hives and swelling include allergic reactions to eggs, milk, peanuts, nuts, etc. Medicines and antibiotics can also trigger hives, as well as latex, insect bites, pet saliva, or even viral infections.
What can parents do about it?
Here are some ways that moms and dads can prevent their kids from having allergic reactions on their skin:
Use gentle products on your child
Be sure to use hypoallergenic or products specifically designed for a child’s skin. Children’s skin are more sensitive, so it’s a good idea to not use harsh cleansers and soaps when bathing or washing your child.
Wipe their drool
Sometimes, your baby’s drool or spit can cause irritation on their skin. Make sure to wipe of their drool or spit as often as possible in order to avoid any skin irritation.
Keep their skin moisturized
Keeping your child’s skin moisturized is another important step in preventing your child’s skin from having rashes or itching. You can use lotions or ointments designed specifically to keep your child’s skin moist.
Use soft fabrics
Wearing soft fabrics helps your child’s skin breathe, and prevents any chafing or redness that can be caused by other fabrics.
Get them allergy tested
You can also take your child to the doctor in order for them to be tested for allergies. That way, you can avoid exposing your child to allergens or anything that can potentially cause an allergic reaction.
Clip their nails
If your child has long nails and they scratch their skin, it can cause rashes or even small wounds. These can also potentially get infected.
