As an independent and strong woman, she concentrated on her career, while living a happy life with her partner. And it was only after a few years that she decided to take the next step.
“I’ve always been independent and focused on a path of self- discovery before anything else and he understood that. We decided to get married only 10 years later — not that we ever needed a piece of paper to validate our relationship. “It’s been 28 years since, and even though we moved into becoming ‘senior citizens’ pretty quickly — we still often date. We eat together, travel extensively and almost every other Friday go out for a movie — it’s nice; it’s comfortable.”
Secret to their happy marriage
She shares that while the couple does many things together, the real secret of their happiness is the space that they give one another.
“He’s around here somewhere — thing is we both still love our space so because he’s so tall and I can never keep up with him…we go for our walks separately. It’s funny, sometimes I pass by him and we wave at each other like we’re two friends who haven’t seen each other in a while and after about an hour, we’ll both meet at one point and go home together!” she signs off.
That’s perhaps how modern-day romances should be. This couple has surely given us a lot to think about. More power to them!
