Dark circles are caused by many things—genetics, age, diet, and of course, fatigue. Many a sleep-deprived mom has glanced into the mirror and was shocked at sight of their haggard appearance. Getting enough shuteye is the first thing you should do to get rid of dark circles, though if you can’t manage that, you can turn to these home remedies to soothe and lighten your raccoon eyes.
Note: Be careful not to get these ingredients in your eyes. If your skin feels irritated after trying these home remedies, discontinue use immediately.
1. Cucumber
Placing cucumbers on your eye area is not only soothing, the vegetable also lightens skin and is also a mild natural astringent that can help rid of your dark circles. Chill cucumber slices in the fridge for half an hour, then leave them on your eye area for around 10 minutes. Afterwards, rinse the area with water. Do this two times a day.
2. Potato
Potatoes boast natural skin-lightening properties, which make them perfect for addressing dark circles. Like the cucumber, you can use thick potato slices, but you can also use potato juice. Grate raw potatoes to extract juice, then soak a cotton ball in the juice and place over your closed eyes. Leave for 10-15 minutes. Do this one to two times a day.

4. Teabags
Tea has caffeine and antioxidants that help get rid of puffiness and darkness. Chill used green or black teabags in the fridge for half an hour. Then, place the teabags over each eye and leave for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this once or twice every day until you are satisfied.
5. Lemon juice
Lemon juice is a mild astringent that has natural bleaching properties. Take a cotton ball and soak it in fresh lemon juice. Carefully apply it around your eyes and leave it on for around 10 minutes before rinsing off. Do this once a day.
