If you live in the general vicinity of Pasig, or are, perhaps, daring to go on a food trip in the area, visit Kapitolyo, the booming foodie haven with its long stretch of small-time, yet homey restaurants. It is the address of some of the now well-known restaurants like Charlie’s, Mad Marx and Poco Deli. Kapitolyo is indeed a flourishing place for foodies who want to discover great eats.
Here are some of our favorite kid-friendly restaurants to go visit with your family.
Three Sisters
10 East Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig City
For a cheap, scrumptious, home-cooked meal, there’s Three Sisters. It is known for its best-selling chicken and pork barbecue dishes, and also for its pancit bihon and pancit canton. They offer two kiddie meals: mini bbq or chicken fingers, both served with spaghetti.
For some “green” appetizers, do try its crispy kangkong with sweet tangy dip. They also offer seafood, which can either be grilled or fried. Other must-try items are the sizzling plates like pork sisig, and other vegetable dishes. More than their rich, familiar flavors, what’s great about Three Sisters is the price. You pay a very decent price for a whole lot of food!
Locavore
10 Brixton St, Kapitolyo, Pasig City
Locavore is a hip, modern restaurant with industrial interiors – cement walls, exposed pipes and all. Complementing the cool ambiance, Locavore serves innovative Filipino dishes such as boneless lechon belly and ginataang kaldereta. It aims to serve artfully decorated food using only organic ingredients, grown from local farms.
Their bestsellers include Mac’s boneless fried chicken, which is glazed to sweet and salty perfection, and sizzling sinigang, a new take on a classic. They also have several options for those who have a hankering for kinilaw dishes.
While waiting, you can order gabi chips, singkamas and manga, or the street food platter with fishballs, kikiam, kwek-kwek and squid balls. That’ll keep the kids busy as you wait for the mains.
While a bit pricey, Locavore, with its delicious dishes, is worth every penny.
Milky & Sunny
9 East Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig City
Milky & Sunny is a chic cafe serving all-day breakfast dishes. If your children are wishing for waffles and tapsilog in the afternoon, they can get it here!
Milky & Sunny offers American-style breakfasts like eggs benedict, savory waffles with chicken, as well as savory and sweet pancakes and french toast. What kid doesn’t love waffles and pancakes? They also have Filipino-style breakfast items like tapa and longanisa rice meals.
Pair these breakfast orders with refreshing and decadent milkshakes.
For some healthy fare, and for your picky eaters, they also offer cereals and fruits.

Diner on 16th

Reminiscent of American-style diners with its red vinyl booths and black-and-white tiles, Diner on the 16th will seem like a step back in time for the family. They serve your favorite nachos, wings, chicken and waffles, and milkshakes.
Try the Sriracha wings with ranch dressing, the waffle florentine, or soy ginger glazed chicken and the kid-approved ube waffles!
For your kid’s sweet tooth, the diner has a wide variety of milkshakes from classic vanilla to s’mores, cheesecake, and caramel popcorn. Their milkshakes are sinfully good, highly recommended, and are sure to land on your Instagram page. Yummy for your tummy, indeed!
For the family looking for something more satiating, they offer kebabs, burgers, and even rice bowls. While a pricier option, Diner on 16th is still a fun dining destination for your family.

Rub Ribs

From bbqs and chicken to ribs, Rub Ribs lets you dig in with gusto- and you won’t mind getting dirty. Order a platter of ribs with a number of sides depending on your family’s preference. Choose from grilled butter corn, bacon and potato salad, coleslaw, buttered vegetables, bacon and mac & cheese, among others.
They also offer grilled fish, Rub fried chicken, chicken cajun pasta, smothered U.S. pork steak, and other goodies on their menu.
As a break from the mains, you can nibble on onion rings, fish & chips, and chicken fingers. Have a go at Rub Ribs and enjoy casual dirty dining.
Cab Cafe
18 East Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig City
Laze the day away at Cab Cafe, which is perfect for chill afternoons. Serving up some familiar American flavors, Cab Cafe offers philly cheesesteak, US Angus beef burger, four cheese pizza, pastrami panini, Wagyu bacon, or Hungarian sausage, and other delicious options.
But the best part of their menu is definitely their desserts. Cab Cafe has its fair share of cakes such as mini turtle cake, pavlova, blueberry cheesecake and sans rival. Live a little and let the kids indulge. These can be paired with any of the following: coffee (either hot or cold), frappuccinos (either coffee or cream based), and iced espresso or fruit beverages.
