Wayne Dominique Arante Uyvico recently shared a Facebook post wherein he caught the child's nanny verbally abusing his daughter. The nanny can be seen on CCTV using harsh words and verbally abusing the child.

In the post, Wayne wrote, "REPRIMANDING the child does not mean it's abuse but the question is are they reprimanding my daughter?"
"My wife and I went out to celebrate valentines day. It's our first time this year to leave our daughter with her nanny and go home at almost 2 am. Lately, we just knew that this is what happens every time we leave her alone with our daughter."
He adds, "Using harsh words is considered a form of emotional abuse. Yelling is as bad and sometimes even worse than physical abuse."
The video below was taken from the CCTV inside the couple's room, and not the maid's room.
"I know this wouldn’t seem that much abusive to some people out there but for us (parents) it is. Verbal discipline is okay but in the way, you yell and curse at the child and verbally threaten to hurt the child is a kind of abuse," Wayne wrote in his Facebook post.
He also advised nannies to be more mindful of how they treat the children that they're taking care off.
Verbal abuse can be just as bad as physical abuse
A lot of parents might think that verbal abuse "isn't as bad" as physical abuse. However, studies have shown that verbal abuse has a bigger impact and leaves deeper emotional scars.
Emotional abuse can cause children to suffer from depression, anxiety, and to feel that they're "never good enough."
Instead of shouting at your child or telling them that they're a "bad kid" if they do something wrong, it's better to sit them down calmly, and explain that you expect better from them.
Let them know that you don't approve of what they did, or how they acted, and tell them what they can do to change it. You can punish them by not letting them play or watch TV, or by making them do extra chores around the house.
Make them understand that bad behavior has negative consequences, and let them feel the impact of their actions.
Shouting or berating your child doesn't do anything to teach them right from wrong. All it does is make them feel bad about themselves, and can even emotionally scar them for life.
At the end of the day, it's very important for moms and dads to understand that their children are still in the process of learning about the world around them. Parents should be more understanding and calm when it comes to dealing with negative behavior.
