Anchorage, Alaska — It looks just like any house on the street but the home owned by Marcela Orand, 35—which also functioned as a home-based day care center called Little Monkeys—was where she is believed to have inflicted sexual abuse on children entrusted to her care.
Though she has been charged with one case of sexual assault, local police fear that there could be more victims, reports Alaska Dispatch News.
Last October, the Anchorage Police Department received a report from a parent that Orand had sexually abused a little girl sometime between October 2011 and June 2014.
According to a criminal complaint written by an APD detective, the child, who is now 5, told her mother that Orand sexually abused her.
The child was interviewed at a child advocacy center last October 29, 2015 where she again stated that Orand sexually abused her.
She admits to sexual abuse several times
The child’s mother was granted a search warrant to record a conversation with the suspect, wherein the latter admitted to committing the crimes.
Last November 4, Orand admitted that she had sexually abused the child several times while on the diaper changing table as well as the play area.
Police noticed “several children” playing in the play area during the interview.
Orand was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual abuse of a minor last November 2015.
According to court records, Orand has been released on $10,000 bail.
