When you’re living with a severe food allergy, it can be frustrating to be limited to just certain kinds of food. UK girl Scarlett Perry, 9, has severe allergies to dairy, eggs, and nuts. Every day, she has toast for breakfast every day. Yes, you read that right. Just toast. Every day.

If you think that sounds like that’d get old fast, then you’re right. But thankfully for Scarlett, her super creative dad Adam has been keeping things interesting by making sculptures out of her toast to encourage her to keep eating the most important meal of the day.

“I started playing with toast to get her excited about her breakfast again.”

He creates each sculpture from two pieces of toast while his wife gets their two daughters ready for school. “I started to feel really sorry for her that her breakfast was so boring everyday, the same old two slices of white toast,” Perry told ABC. “So I started playing with toast to get her excited about her breakfast again and to make both the girls laugh when they came down to eat.”

Adam, who’s a professional musician, made his first sculpture over 100 days ago: a simplified version of the London Eye.

It wasn’t long before he moved on to more complicated designs.

Each sculpture takes as much time as it takes their kettle to boil. “The idea is, get ready, turn on the kettle, get building and post it by the time the kettle has pinged!”

Adam hopes to keep this going for 365 days so he “can make a coffee table book about the year in toast!”
