Mr. Pure Energy was also Mr. Pure Honesty when he opened up to Karen Davila in a recent interview on ANC’s Headstart.

The concerned dad revealed why he thinks it didn’t work out between his son Gab and blogger/model Tricia Centenera.

“I had to apologize to him because there were times that I felt even before they got married that perhaps, Gab was trying to keep up with the Joneses,” recounted Gary in the interview. “Because Jericho Rosales got married, other friends of Paolo got married, Paolo got married, and now Gab was left behind.”

“So when they finally did get married, even before that, I would look at my son Gabriel all the time and just watch him,” he continued, adding that he knows he has to trust his son to know what he wants. The devout Christian also shared that he prayed for guidance for his son.

“Gab was trying to keep up with the Joneses. Because Jericho Rosales got married, other friends of Paolo got married, Paolo got married, and now Gab was left behind.”

He also went on to credit both Gab and Tricia for overcoming many struggles.

“Gab and Tricia have both been through so, so much. I mean, many people, it would drive them crazy,” confided the 52-year-old dad of three.

Though it was his wife Angeli who became their son’s confidante, Gary also became more of a friend than a dad.

“Gab always came to me as like an escape,” he said, sharing that he would always reassure Gab that Tricia loves him and vice versa.

The concerned dad was also up front with his son, emphasizing that he needs to face his problems and make decisions to work things out, not just with Tricia but other aspects of his life. He also needs to have maturity to deal with the effects of these decisions.

“And so far, you know, with Gab, he’s been kinda keeping his feet on the ground,” shared the proud dad.

Gab and Tricia tied the knot in the U.S. in 2014 and in Tagaytay and Boracay in 2015.

They called it quits a year later, as first reported by PEP. In a separate report by the same entertainment website, Tricia shared that Gab had asked her and her parents for forgiveness.
