It’s been five years since the world said goodbye to one of its most beloved fictional characters, but Harry Potter is now back, all grown up, and a father of three in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, a new play which shows the next chapter in his magical adventures.
Based on a new story penned by J.K. Rowling, the much anticipated play was written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany. Grammy award winning singer/songwriter/composer Imogen Heap will provide the music.
The whole Potterhead community was abuzz when the first photos of The Boy Who Lived, with his family and friends have been released.
Jamie Parker (who has appeared in various stage plays and the Tom Cruise film “Valkyrie”) will be playing the adult Harry, who is now an employee of the Ministry of Magic. (Fans just can’t wait to see Harry Potter as a dad.)
His wife, Ginny, will be played by theater actress Poppy Miller. They have three kids. The youngest of whom, Albus Severus, will be played by Sam Clemmett. The young boy—understandably—-encounters struggles from having such a famous, beloved dad.
Not much is known about the much anticipated production, but J.K. Rowling assures fans that the show will be just as heartwarming as the book series.
Harry’s BFFs Ron and Hermione (Paul Thornley and Noma Dumezweni) are now married, too. A young theater actress, Cherrelle Skeete, will be making her stage debut as their daughter, Rose Granger-Weasley.
The play will premiere on London’s West End and will be staged in two parts beginning on the 30th of July. A book version of the play’s script will also be sold at the theater. No news yet as to whether or not it will be made available elsewhere.
Let’s expecto the best!
