Tragedy struck a family in Singapore when Ms Huang Luyang, a mother of 2 toddlers, was hit by bus while crossing a street on Friday, November 17. She was taken unconscious to the hospital soon after the incident but was later pronounced dead.

Hit by bus

According to a report by The Straits Times, the incident occurred at around 2.40 pm when Ms Luyang, 38, was apparently heading to work and crossing the road. It is unclear, however, if she was using the pedestrian crossing.

It is understood that she got hit by a buy operated by SBS Transit, and got trapped underneath.

An ambulance deployed by the Singapore Civil Defence Force immediately brought Ms Huang to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where remained unconscious until she was pronounced dead at 3.40am on Saturday. She leaves behind her husband and two young sons.

Police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, Ms Tammy Tan, senior vice-president of corporate communications at SBS Transit, has expressed her condolences on behalf of the company.

“Our top priority is to assist the family as best we can in this very difficult time. We are meanwhile assisting the police with their investigations,” she told the media.

“A complete family… is now shattered”

At his wife’s wake Mr Ronald Low, Ms Huang’s husband told The Straits Times that he is worried about their two boys following his wife’s passing.

He told reporters that he is not sure how he will be able to “raise them without a mother, and how to love them well.” He also said that her death was too sudden.

“[We were] a complete family, with everything planned ahead of us, is now suddenly shattered.”

Ms Huang’s children are just aged one and four.
