As moms, whether it’s our first or fifth child, we all face the same fears. It can come in different names, but at its core, these fears are rooted in our desire to want the best for our family. Here are some of the most common problems I’ve experienced and some mommy tips on how I managed to make them easier. I hope it helps you too!

“Am I doing enough?”

For first time parents, it’s hard not to get anxious about how you're bringing up your kid. “Am I spending enough quality time with them?”, “Is allowing a little junk food okay?”, or “Am I earning enough money?” are just some of the recurring thoughts.

When you start to feel overwhelmed, remember that you are not alone. You can always ask other people for help because there’s always someone out there who knows exactly what you’re going through.

I personally reached out to fellow moms for tips on anything under the sun! From choosing the best brands to recommendations for a local pediatrician, you can come to them for help. You may even be surprised to find friends through online communities to whom you can air out your frustrations.

Surprisingly, doing just that helped me a lot! Knowing that there are other people going through the same thing as us gives us a sense of comfort.

“How do I know if I’m doing a good job?”

In a time where every achievement is posted online, it’s easy to belittle your efforts and ask, “why can’t I be like that other mom?”, or “I wish I could also buy all the things my baby wants!”

Yes, it’s true that some moms are more fortunate than others but that doesn’t change the fact that you have great qualities of your own!

Material things do not determine your value as a mother. Ask yourself: Do your kids come to you all the time for help? Do they trust you with their secrets? Are you starting to set goals and prepare for your little one’s future?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all these questions, then it most likely means you are putting your child’s needs first. Most importantly, your relationship with your kids fosters trust. Needless to say, that makes you an awesome mom!

So, when in doubt, just ask yourself questions like these! Keep in mind that as long as you put your kids’ sake first, you are on the right track.

“I don’t know where to start!”

When thinking about your future goals for the family, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done. Thinking about expenses on food, clothing, shelter, and education can ignite a little panic in us. So how was I able to start saving up?

The key to overcoming financial fear is to be proactive about it. If you haven’t started saving for the future, it’s the best time to start now. Little by little, you can save up for your future goals while sparing money for emergencies.

What I did was allot a specific amount every month to put in my bank account. It doesn’t matter how much, as long as you are able to put it immediately in your bank to avoid spending it on something else.

The good news is, you don’t have to shell out big money to start saving for the future. For as little as Php 5,000.00, I was able to open a BPI Family Pamana Savings Account. And, as soon as I did, I received FREE life insurance coverage! This made me feel more secure about my family’s financial health.

Another thing I like about opening an account with them is that I don’t have to worry about premium payments and medical check-ups.

With already a lot on our minds, we can lighten our mommy-struggles by taking little steps and making sure we’re on the right track!

Being a parent is a super hard job that no one is ever prepared for. It’s perfectly normal to have moments when you feel like breaking down. Just remember that you are not alone in this journey so don’t be afraid to put down your guard from time to time and ask for help!
