Academy award winner Hugh Jackman seems to have both personal and professional success. While many think this may not be as easy, he told the show Sunrise that he lives by two constant mottos.

The 47-year-old star’s first slogan in life is “‘Have a go,'”. The second one has to do with his wife, Deborah.

“The other one, the most important one, is drummed into me every day. ‘Happy wife, happy life.’ That’s the slogan. We’re about to celebrate our 20th anniversary,” gushed Hugh.

Hugh 47, met Deborah 60, on the set of the TV show Correlli in 1995.

They were dating for a year before getting married. “I decided, I won’t ask her to marry me for six months,” he told Town & Country magazine in 2013. “Then after four months, I thought, that’s the most ridiculous rule.”

“From day one, we were best mates. We just clicked. We were giggling and laughing — we just connected,” he later said. “She has two speeds: Stop and Go. She is always, ‘Let’s do this, let’s do that.’ And she is very funny, very quick.”

Hugh has lived by this motto by many ways, chief of which was making his wife “happy” in the bedroom by sometimes wearing his Wolverine costume.

“The sheets we go through,” he joked with The Sun in 2013. To which Deborah gamely responded, “Oh, my God, it’s dreadful! Always with the claws. I’m like, ‘Mix the salad. Put them to use. Come on!'”

It looks like it is true what they say that a sense of humor, not just romance, is essential to keeping the spark alive.
