Never have I thought about experiencing a pandemic during my existence on earth. Let alone during my pregnancy period. Who wouldn’t be scared upon hearing a deadly virus enter in your country while you’re also at a vulnerable point in your life?

My anxiety grows as I slowly reach my due date or Expected Date of Delivery (EDD). For a while I’ve been thinking we’ve been waiting for quite a long time to get pregnant, yet a pandemic took the joy and supposed enjoyment or excitement.

It gave me a lot of worries and anxiety instead. It also made my delivery a little extra, like extra bills because hospitals require a negative COVID result before admission. Apart from the COVID Test, there’s also a set of PPE to be added to your bills.

The good thing is, just before the pandemic was announced that it already entered the country, my OB invited me to a preggy sort of program. It was the hospital’s program.

The purpose is to educate pregnant women about the importance of vaccines. I attended the said program. There were prizes, just write your name on a piece of paper and submit it to the coordinators.

There was a first prize, a second, a third, and a grand prize. They started giving out the third prize, which I felt a little sad about because I really wanted the baby shoes. I really find it lovely and cute.

Second and first prizes have been announced as well as the other giveaways yet not once did they call my name.

Finally here comes the Grand Prize, I already gave up because I knew I wasn’t lucky with such things. So I told myself, don’t bother it will never be you. They first started with the initials, there were two of us in the room who has the letter J initial, so we were asked to raise our hands.

Then, they announced the initial letter of the last name, which the other lady already put down her hand. I still refuse to believe though that it was me until I heard my complete name. Luckily I was true because the prize was a free hospital delivery whether it was normal or CS.

It wasn’t completely free from all the bills but, goodness it was such a great help during the pandemic time.
