Keeping your kids safe while in public
Make sure your kids are safe in public by following these tips!
Your children's safety should always be a top priority, especially if you're out in public. So here are some tips to help you keep your kids safe in public!
1. Don't let your kids play around mannequins or displays in a store
Kids can sometimes get a bit rowdy, and they can tip over displays or mannequins if they play around those inside a store. Not only would it be expensive to pay for the damages, there's also a big risk of your child getting hurt if a display falls on them.
So make sure to keep your kids close, and don't let them play around mannequins or displays.
2. Keep an eye on them on escalators
If you're going to ride an escalator, you can either choose to carry your child, or let them stand safely inside the steps. Make sure that no part of their body touches any of the elevator's moving parts, as they can get stuck inside those parts and become severely injured.
You also need to make sure that their shoelaces don't accidentally get caught in the escalator, so make sure they're secure and tight. It's also a good idea to hold your kid's hand while riding the escalator.
3. Teach them what to do if you get separated
It's always important to prepare for the worst, so you need to teach your kid what they can do in case you get separated. The first thing they need to do would be to try and look for a trusted adult, like a security guard, or a policeman, and ask for help.
Second, it's also important that they can remember your cellphone number, as well as your address at home. That way, they can provide that information to an adult so that they can be safe.
You can also set a landmark that your kids can easily go to in case you get separated.
4. For older kids, cellphones are important
For kids old enough to have their own phones, it's important to give them one. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just so long as they can call you and send a text message, then it would be fine. Cellphones are useful for kids to have since they can use it to contact you in case of emergencies, and it also lets you contact your children so that you can be sure that they're safe and they're okay.
5. Teach your kids who to avoid
These days, it's important to teach your kids about the types of people that they should avoid. If there are people asking them for help, or asking them to do something for them, then that person might have an ulterior motive, and it's important to make sure that your kids firmly say no to people asking for such requests.
It's also important for your kids to never disclose any private information such as their names, addreess, etc. to adults who can't be trusted. That way, they can avoid putting themselves in danger.
