  • Educational videos in English and Filipino.

As much as we hate to admit it, gadget time or screen time is already part of our growing kids’ lives.

While there are still parents who successfully raise their kids without any gadgets, a majority of us have accepted the reality that we live in a world where these things exist. We simply have to be more consistent with our kids on implementing healthy watching habits and be more discerning about the shows that they are exposed to.

As a mom of two grade-schoolers and a toddler, I’ve seen the different kinds of shows that are available online. The truth is, they’re not all that bad. Some of them are educational, and as a homeschooling mom, I’ve used some of these shows to teach my kids about certain topics.

However, some are just plain disturbing and highly stimulating for small children (read here on why overstimulating shows are not good for little kids).

Moreover, as a mom who wants to raise bilingual kids, I’m also concerned that there’s not a lot of material online for kids in our native language. This is a reality when you hear about kids who are better in English than they are in Filipino, despite having Pinoy parents and living in the Philippines. Some of them even got the slang and the accent from their favorite kid shows.
