TalkED: Early Childhood Series, the newest online talk show of Knowledge Channel, specifically focusing on issues and topics on early childhood development, would once again feature an interesting topic, this time exploring the importance of outdoor and nature play in the development of the Filipino child. TalkED Mommy host, Bianca Gonzales, together with a certified forest school practitioner will be sharing ideas and activities that will encourage children to see nature as their lifelong friend.
Not just by being outside, they’ll be able to understand how nature works, even in the confines of their own home, and how their existence and actions affect everything around them.
With children being enclosed for almost two years, letting them enjoy the sunshine and the fresh air will help support physical and mental well-being. Green spaces are therapeutic and they aid in attentional regeneration and the reduction of mental exhaustion. Moreover, being outside strengthens connections between families and societies. Although a lot of outdoor activities naturally assist young children in advancing their essential motor skills like coordination, balance, dexterity, and agility, learning about the environment even at home extends the nature play experience.
It helps them foster a positive relationship with physical activity and sets them up for a healthy attitude towards sustaining a more active lifestyle, despite the limitations of space and mobility.
