Father nearly lost son after his car was stolen by thieves

Father nearly lost son after his car was stolen by thieves

“He left his seven-year-old son alone in his BMW for five minutes as he ran an errand while in Johor Baru.”

Leaving babies inside cars is a dangerous misdeed that should never be done; babies could bake and suffocate in the heat. But once the child is old enough, is it still unsafe?

According to this next report, it is, but not for the reason you might be thinking.

Reported by the New Paper Online, a father nearly lost his son after he left the child inside the car while he ran some errands.

“He left his seven-year-old son alone in his BMW for five minutes as he ran an errand while in Johor Baru,” the report said. “When he returned, both the car and his son were gone.”

The incident occurred at 4pm last Saturday when the father parked his white BMW in front of a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) shop at Taman Melodies, a suburb in Johor Baru.

The TCM shopkeeper said that the father, named only as Mr. Lee, went into the shop and bought two cans of milk powder.

He left the shop but quickly returned to exchange one of the cans.

Five minutes later he returned to find both his son and his Singapore-registered car missing.

Panicked, he borrowed a phone to call the one left in his car, but he could not get through. He then called the Malaysian police to file a report.

“Pictures of the boy were uploaded on Facebook shortly after the boy and car went missing, with the posts asking others to look out for the boy,” said the TNP story. “The posts, put on behalf of the man, were widely circulated with at least 7,000 shares.”

Thankfully, the boy was found unhurt later that day at 10PM around the Danga Bay area.

The car, however, was yet to be found.

Shin Min Daily News spoke to the locals at the Taman Melodies area. While the area is considered generally safe, they still advisee people to practice constant vigilance and always to be careful.
