A single mom under the alias of “Samantha” has reported that the maid she had recently hired stole 100,000 pesos worth of valuables. The kicker? She did the deed within 7 hours after she was employed.

She came from an agency

Samantha shared that the suspect, Margie Teodoro, came to her condominium in Eastwood City at around 10pm on October 8th. When she woke up the next day, she discovered her valuables missing, and the maid she hired was nowhere to be found.

Based on CCTV footage caught in the elevator, the suspect left at around 4am on the morning of October 9th. The suspect was carrying her backpack and a shoulder bag. She allegedly stole 3 cellphones, expensive watches, a bag, and cash.

She was next seen going to a fast food restaurant in Pasay, where she ordered some food and immediately went to the 2nd floor of the establishment. There, the CCTV cameras caught her looking at all of the documents she stole, and then started counting the money. She left the IDs and documents in the restaurant which were used by the restaurant staff to contact Samantha and return her documents.

According to Samantha, she discovered the maid through an agency called “lifemaideasy.ph.” She was extremely disappointed since she thought that she would be able to trust the maid that she hired since she came from an agency. She had already paid 16,000 pesos for the agency fee.

Meanwhile, the agency offered to provide financial assistance as well as help in filing a case for “qualified theft” against the suspect. They add that they will also spread Teodoro’s photo in order to alert and warn the public.

The suspect has surrendered

At around 11:30 pm on Thursday night, the suspect has voluntarily surrendered herself to the Office of the Barangay in Barangay Batasan, Quezon City.

She was discovered to have been hiding in a house in Alton St. in the said barangay. She surrendered after discovering the numerous news reports on television as well as the posts that were shared on social media regarding her crime.

She surrendered a pouch, a body bag, and body spray. The other items that she allegedly stole were nowhere to be found.

She also maintains that she did commit the robbery, but that she only stole 12,000 pesos worth of belongings, and not 100,000 pesos as was reported earlier. She admits that she did it since she was desperate for money.

  1. Hire someone from a trusted and reputable agency. That way, if anything happens or if the maid does something wrong, the agency would be able to provide you with information as well as provide assistance.
  2. Get to know your maid. It’s important to talk to your maid to get a feel for how they are. If you feel that someone doesn’t seem trustworthy, trust your gut feeling.
  3. Keep your valuables safe. Even if you trust your maid, it’s always a good idea to keep your valuables safe, preferably in a vault or in a place where only you have access to.
  4. Don’t let your maids know where you keep your valuables. As much as possible, don’t be too open with where you keep your wallets, your phones, etc. Leaving things out in the open can also sometimes tempt your household help, so make sure to avoid doing that.
  5. Do a background check. Nowadays, there’s a lot of information that you can get on Facebook. So try and do a Facebook or Google search for your maid’s name to try and learn more about them. You can also ask the agency to provide you more information regarding the maid that you’re planning to hire.
