There is a wide array of baby food to choose from.

But, making your own baby food at home helps you save money and minimize food wastage.

Plus: it helps make sure you know exactly what went in to making the food you serve your baby—no chemicals and additives, of course!

It’s pretty simple, too.

Here’s how you can make your own baby food purees in 10 minutes–or less!

Step one

Take any peeled fruit or vegetable.

Steam it until it’s soft enough to be mashed with a fork. (This should only take about 6 to 10 minutes.)

If your baby is over four months, they can already enjoy any fruit or vegetable.

But you should save pork, fish, beef, or chicken for when they turn one; this is when they can handle slightly thicker foods.

Step two

Once mashed, add breast milk or a little water for consistency. Puree in a blender until smooth (or until it reaches your desired consistency) and there you have it!

If you’re away from home, you can bring a manual food mill which helps you make mushy, baby-friendly meals in seconds–even when you’re on the go!
