In a recent interview with entertainment website PEP, Marian Rivera expressed just how much being a mom has altered her priorities and points of view. Having a child, she shared, also taught her to be more patient.
The hands-on mom is poised for her much anticipated showbiz comeback, and it seems like she’s become a pro even before she’s started fully juggling motherhood and her career.
The working mom confided, however, that it wasn’t always easy.
“Mahirap, mahirap sa umpisa. Pero ngayong nakakapa ko na, alam ko na kung paano balansehin,” she said in an interview. “E, siyempre, obsessed ka sa anak mo. Nagdaan ang magdamag, nakaganyan ka pa rin. Sobrang in love talaga ako sa anak ko,” gushed Marian, adding how she had to make an effort not to overlook her role as a wife to her husband, actor Dingdong Dantes.
Their baby Zia is now 1 year and 3 months old and the doting mom proudly shared that she’s a good-natured, active kid.
“Sobrang masayahin siya. Makulit. Malikot. Yung tipong malingat ka lang, nandun na. Ganun kabilis. At saka siguro, isa sa nakuha talaga niya sa akin, sobrang bubbly niya,” revealed Marian.
But Zia doesn’t solely take after her. Marian shared that, aside from her eyes, Zia inherited her love for books from her dad.
“Mukhang matalino ang anak ko, mana sa tatay niya. Mahilig din siyang kumanta. Sumasayaw siya,” she went on. “Malambing siya. Alam niyang mang-uto sa isang salita.”
Though Zia seems to be mastering the art of getting what she wants, Marian and Dingdong are careful not to spoil her and make sure she grows up grounded.
“Gusto naming lumaki siya na nakikita niya sa amin na hindi materyal na bagay ang importante, na ‘eto kami ng tatay mo, eto ang gusto naming makuha mo,'” she said, adding that they make sure their parenting style is always “on the same page”.
“Alam niyo, napag-usapan naming mag-asawa, hindi naman masamang i-spoil ang isang bata, pero dapat nasa tamang lugar talaga,” clarified Marian. “Anak mo ‘yan, so lahat gagawin mo para sa anak mo. Pero lahat ng sobra masama. So kapag alam mong mali, aawatin mo. Pero kung wala ka namang nakikitang mali, bakit hindi mo ibibigay ang gusto niya?”
Though she has to wear many hats, the 32-year-old mom isn’t backing down. In fact, she strives to become a “superwoman”.
“Nanay, asawa, artista, businesswoman, matagal ko nang na-feel na superwoman ako, noong nanganak ako,” she said proudly. “Hindi biro ang magbuntis at manganak.”
