After two people get married, the next question is always, “When are you going to have a baby?”
Some couples decide to start on the parenting journey right after, no matter how unprepared they are. But there are also couples who want to wait and take it slow before they finally make up their mind that they’re ready to accept such a big responsibility.
Such is the case for celebrity couple Megan Young and Mikael Daez. Together, they agreed on the decision to wait and not have a baby yet, at least for the early years of their marriage.

Tough decisions
Last July 18, the couple talked about this and other difficult decisions they had to make on their YouTube vlog entry entitled, “Why we don’t have a child yet – TOUGH DECISIONS.”
They both talked about the hard decisions they had to make when it comes to their careers – as individuals, while dating and now that they’re already married.
At the start of their vlog, they talked about their personal struggles such as accepting a role on TV for Mikael, and joining a beauty pageant, for Megan.
They also talked about the decision to keep their relationship private when they just started dating. For those who don’t follow their career, Mikael and Megan started dating in 2011. However, it wasn’t until 2017 when they finally confirmed to the public that they were a couple. So why did they choose to hide it at first?
“We wanted to grow as individuals first, in terms of our work,” said Mikael.
For Megan, being with Mikael was like a breath of fresh air.
“I felt that I was in a different world when I was with you, and I didn’t want anybody to dip their toes into it and ruin that,” she told her husband.
From the start, it was evident that Megan and Mikael were not the usual showbiz couple you would find. From the start, they were very clear on their goals and how their relationship would be.
“We had a clear path of where we wanted our future to be.” shared Megan.

The toughest decision as a married couple

Despite not being seen together in the public eye, the couple shared that at that time, they were building a solid foundation for a lasting relationship.
Megan was there for Mikael when he was exploring career opportunities in showbiz. And Mikael helped Megan in her journey to winning the Miss World 2013 title.
The two were very secure in their relationship that they waited half a decade after their engagement (Mikael proposed in 2014) to finally get married. Meghan and Mikael had a very intimate wedding on January 10, 2020, followed by a big celebration a few weeks later.
After the wedding, people were curious to know why they won’t make cute little babies yet. But according to Megan, this was one of the toughest decisions they made as a married couple.
“A major decision for us as a couple would be not having kids right away, right after we got married.” said the actress.

There were several factors that led to their decision, but the main reason was that the couple wanted to enjoy the first years of their marriage. They also decided to make the most of the opportunities that were coming their way.
“We wanted to enjoy our married life as a couple, but we also had work opportunities and we wanted to, you know, make the most out of it. We wanted to make the most of us just being together as a couple,” Megan revealed.
The experiences of family and friends who also started a family contributed to Megan and Mikael’s decision to wait before having a baby.
“We saw what kind of changes their lifestyle went through. Of course, we saw the love that they gave to their baby. But we were able to use their stories as input to be ablet to come to the best decision for ourselves.” shared Mikael. “And so far there are no regrets. I don’t want us to have any regrets when it comes to these decisions. Because eventually, that time will come when we want to grow our family.” he added.
