Sending text messages is as second nature as telling stories for many Pinoy moms. It’s a way to connect and it is no longer less rewarding than a face-to-face conversation. In fact, there are days that we talk more through text.

Though it’s perfectly healthy to still be as open to those closest to you even when you’re married, there are certain boundaries that you should adhere to in order to make sure your marriage remains healthy and happy.

When it comes to text messages, setting limits on yourself is essential. Here are the types of text messages you should avoid sending now that you’re no longer single, according to Family Share.

1. Flirty messages

Though this may not be the intent, certain messages can easily be misinterpreted. For instance, a co-worker texts you late at night, asking something random and not related to work, be careful how you respond. Though the said co-worker may be innocent, it’s better to be safe and just reply the next day and avoid coming off like you’re trying to be cute.

2. Messages about your marital problems

It’s normal to vent about marriage problems to close friends, but doing so through text runs the risk of it being seen by other people, who you don’t necessarily trust as much as the intended recipient.

3. Messages about financial problems

Money is a sensitive topic, so whatever struggles you have with it should be kept between you and your partner. You can ask advice from your most trusted friends, but try to do this face to face.

4. Revealing personal details about your husband and kids

Know where to draw the line when it comes to revealing intimate details about your family life. Don’t embarrass your husband, for instance, by talking about the difficulties he’s having at work. Refrain from oversharing or giving out too much information about your kids. This is to protect them as much as it is a way of respecting their privacy. It’s so easy for text messages to be accessed by others.

5. Rants about your husband

Complaining about your husband through text shouldn’t become a habit. Sure, there will be days when you feel like everything he does annoys you, but revealing this to the world isn’t the best way to deal with it. Think of how it would make you feel if they ranted about you through text.
