It’s been a habit for me as a mom to always remind my kids about praying in the morning and at night before sleep.
They are always excited and reminded me once I forgot and I am really sleepy that I cannot start the lead to prayer.
Prayers that they know and memorized:
Prayer Before Meal
Bless us Oh Lord and this Thy Gift which We are about to receive from Thy Bounty Through Christ Our Lord Amen.
My youngest started to knew this at the age of 4 year old, She always offer to lead the prayer.
Prayer Before Bed
Of course as their Mom, I’m always the one who leads the prayer especially the opening prayer. Which they followed me after or what’s the next.
After I’ve recited this: “Hail Mary full of Grace the Lord is with they Blessed are you among women and Blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.”
My kids will respond: “Holy Mary Mother of God Pray for us Sinners now and at the hour of Our death, Amen.”
They even recited or offer themselves to recite the prayer before Meal during their cousin’s birthday celebration. Which in turn they are amazed and are really appreciated. Their aunt told their kids also to follow my kids doings (prayer hobby). And it feels and make me proud as parent.
Prayer before going outside
I always remind my kids to make the Sign of the Cross and recite a prayer to be safe and make healthy during travels once they stepped the door going out. At first I am the one who started the prayer and let them look at me so they knew already what to do the next.
My husband who is an OFW most of the time is not around for 8 to 9 months is very proud to knew that his kids knows how to pray. He let his nephews, cousins and friends informed that our kids knows the prayer and let do the testimony by letting them recite the prayer once our gathering started.
This is for them to be aware and follows the way our child did the prayer. It’s also the best time for us and to remind ourselves about the blessings of the Lord must be given back in return by being thankful for everything even without occassion.
Aside from prayer on meal and in going out, I always reminded them to pray every time they started a piece of work or to say “Bless you” always and say “Thank you po, Lord.”
