1. Don’t start potty training until you’re 100% sure your child is ready
This is usually something that most new parents usually forget. Forget about that article you read in a magazine about the best time to start potty training, since it really depends on your child. Trust us, you’ll know when it’s time.
2. Make sure everyone is on the same page
Make sure that everyone in your household knows how you’ll go about with potty training your child. Otherwise they might give your child conflicting ideas about potty training.
3. Going to the park will feel like you’re packing for a day trip
Yep, if you’re going to do something as simple as going to the park, you’ll have to pack accordingly to prevent any emergencies. Some parents even bring a portable potty so that their kids won’t be dependent on diapers when they have to go.
4. Nighttime potty training will be very different from daytime potty training
Once your kid has their daytime potty training worked out, doing it at night will be another challenge. Your kid might also wet the bed, especially if they’re scared of going to the bathroom alone at night, so make sure to prepare for that as well.
5. Always be prepared
It bears repeating, but it really is true that you need to be very prepared. If you’re going on a holiday, then it’s best to buy a portable potty so that your child won’t revert back to using a diaper. You’ll also need to prepare extra clothes and underwear in case there’s an “accident”. So always be prepared!
