NAIA paramedics were scrambling and doing everything they could in order to save the life of a newborn that was found abandoned in a cubicle inside a washroom in NAIA Terminal 1.
The baby was struggling to survive
Maricel Boliman, a janitress, found the child in a trash can inside a cubicle. She said that she noticed that there was a woman inside the cubicle where she found the child, however she wasn’t able to see her face clearly. She goes on and said that the woman was in a hurry to get outside the cubicle, and she had a feeling that something was wrong, so she quickly checked the cubicle and found a trash bag inside.
When she checked inside the bag, there was a baby, covered in blood, and lifeless. She said that the newborn’s lips and fingernails were dark. A nurse came and checked the baby and found that it was still alive, but struggling to survive. That’s when the NAIA medical team stepped in and tried to revive the newborn.
A beautiful moment
The paramedics were doing the best they can in order to revive the newborn, who had trouble breathing because of blood that might blocked his airways. And for all their efforts, they were rewarded when they finally saw that the child was starting to breathe. Once the child started breathing, the color came back to his lips, which were already turning blue due to the lack of oxygen.
The child was then taken to the Pasay City General hospital to be cared for. The child was given an IV, as well as medicine to fight against any possible infection. The child also underwent newborn screening to ensure that he is healthy. The child is currently stable, and his health looks good.
He will be turned over to the DSWD which cares for abandoned children. The hospital administrator added that if a parent comes out and claims the child, they will have to undergo a strict investigation before giving the child to the parent.
