OFW who wanted to finish school among casualties of Tanay tragedy

According to reports, 26 year old Lovely Seringan, who was a former OFW, was one of the casualties in the tragic accident that happened in Tanay.

Lovely Seringan’s family was inconsolable after they found out that she was included in the 15 people who died following the tragedy that happened in Tanay.

They didn’t sign any waiver for the tour

According to Lovely’s family, they did not sign any waivers when Lovely joined the tour.

“Once na hindi sasama sa field trip, ibabagsak daw nila ‘yung mga estudyante.. or else pagagawan ng thesis… imagine first year pa lang pagagawan mo na ng thesis?,” Lovely’s brother, Staff Sgt. Nixon Seringan shares.

Lovely Seringan, 26, was a former OFW who returned to the Philippines in order to finish her studies.

“We are not forcing the students”

Zanny Samsona, school activities coordinator shares, “We are not forcing the students na ‘o pag di kayo sumama, ganyan ganyan mangyayari. We are giving them their own free will to decide.”

She adds, “Alam po namin kasi bilang mga magulang, may mga mixed emotions po sila ngayon pero rest assured na kung ano po makakaya ng eskwelahan bibigyan po namin sila ng suporta.”

However, a number of parents, including those whose children survived the incident, still feel like their children were forced into joining the field trip even if it wasn’t required.

Currently, Bestlink College of the Philippines (BCP) has provided assistance to the families of the 15 casualties of the accident, which include 14 students as well as the driver.
