You’ve probably heard about vaginal and anal whitening as well as other treatments that alter the appearance of a person’s private parts. But have you heard of the Thai penis whitening treatment?
The cosmetic procedure, which is predicted to be a game-changer in the beauty industry, uses microlasers to lighten dark skin on the penis and groin area.
The Thai penis whitening fad gained social media attention after Lelux Hospital shared photos of an ongoing procedure. Netizens were both confused and concerned by the unconventional treatment.
Lelux Hospital first started offering the treatment in July 2017. As of this writing, the clinic boasts of about 100 male customers each month.
“These days a lot of people are asking about it. We get around 100 clients a month, three to four clients a day,” confirms manager Bunthita Wattanasiri in an interview with Channel News Asia.

Wattanansiri clarifies that the procedure makes use of very tiny lasers. Practitioners are aware that care must be taken, as it involves one of the most sensitive parts of the body.
And this “silly fad,” as some have called it, doesn’t come cheap.
Those interested in Thai penis whitening treatment will have to shell out US$650 for five sessions.
Lelux hospital also offers the controversial “3D Vagina” procedure, which makes use of body fat to “plump up” a woman’s genitals.
The risks of Thai Penis whitening procedures
The obsession with whiteness as a sign of beauty and superiority is rampant and much-debated across Asia. So it comes as no surprise that a procedure like Thai penis whitening would gain popularity.
When it comes to genital lightening – including anal lightening procedures – it is important to understand that it is still a medical procedure, so it comes with certain risks.
1. Bleaching involves harsh chemicals, like chlorine and peroxide, that can burn or damage the skin.
2. Laser treatments can cause bleeding, infection, pain, and scarring.
Though Thai penis whitening makes use of fairly safe microlasers, it is still important to consult a specialist before signing up for this new treatment.
Thai penis whitening the natural way
At the end of the day, it is your choice whether or not to undergo genital lightening (male or female). But it’s important to know that there are natural alternatives worth exploring:
- Lemon Juice. Cut up a lemon and rub a piece on the desired area. You can also mix it with honey.
- Papaya. You can apply natural fruit juice or use papaya soap when cleansing your genitals.
- Yogurt. Not only is yogurt a gentle lightening agent, it helps reduce the risk of yeast and bacterial infections.
- Milk. Soak a cotton ball in milk and dab it onto your genitals. Milk reduces skin pigmentation.
- Calamansi. This small, citrusy fruit is packed with vitamin C. Just squeeze the juice onto a cotton ball and rub it on the area once or twice a day.
- Orange Peel. Apply orange juice using a cotton ball or rub the peel directly onto your skin. Then rinse it off after about 20 minutes.
- Oatmeal. This is a good exfoliator and cleanser. It lightens skin by removing toxins, excess oil, and evens out discolouration.
At-home treatments are also available in the market. When shopping for lightening creams, make sure to consult a health professional to check if it’s a licensed product. It’s best to know if it is safe for prolonged application on your skin.
