Mary Jane Hamtig was celebrating Christmas Eve and her 21st birthday when she suffered a tragic fate at the hands of her boyfriend.
According to a report by Philstar.com, the young woman, who was later confirmed to be pregnant, was stabbed 14 times by her 20-year-old boyfriend Michael Mendoza.
She was rushed to the New Era Hospital. Sadly, however, she was declared dead on arrival.
Mary Jane’s mother Marilyn is crying out for justice. “Bilang ina, kulang ang buhay niya. Pero wala kaming magagawa, gusto lang naming magkaroon ng hustisya ang anak ko,” lamented the grieving mom in an interview with Philstar.com.
She recalled how they all heard mass at dawn on December 24 and went to the Quezon Memorial Circle. Little did she know that it would be the last Christmas she would be spending with her daughter.

Michael had accused Mary Jane of cheating on him with another man and according to his account, Mary Jane was the one who started the fight when she slapped him, calling him a “coward”.
According to the Philstar.com report, witnesses saw Michael dragging Mary Jane by the hair to a nearby creek, leaving clumps of hair and a trail of blood as they went.
Michael expressed deep remorse for ending the life of his girlfriend and what he believes is his unborn child. Mary Jane’s family plan to bury her after the New Year.
