In an interview, actor and soon-to-be father of two Richard Gutierrez shared that he doesn’t want his son, Zion, to grow up in the limelight.
Richard Gutierrez: “I want him to have a separate childhood”
Richard, who was a child actor along with his twin brother Raymond, started showbusiness at the very young age of 4. And in an interview, he was asked if he wanted the same thing for his son.
To which the actor responded, “No, maybe not that early.”
He goes on, “[I want Zion to] go to school, live normally, do whatever he wants—either athletics or arts. It’s up to him.
“I want him to have a separate childhood,” he adds.
Richard Gutierrez on fatherhood
Richard also shared his insights on being a father, saying,
“Ako, I’m trying to be the dad that tries to understand and listen and adapt to my son’s needs. Hindi ko ini-impose yung what I think should be done.
“I try to make them learn on their own, but of course, guidance—pero, parang, hindi yung super strict guidance.
“I tell them what’s right and wrong, but I want them to make their own decisions in life.”
He added that he wants to be like his dad, Eddie Gutierrez, who he said was strict and disciplined them, but also let them make their own choices in life.
“I want that for Zion. I don’t want him to be too tied up,” he says.
