We all feel peckish in between meals, whether it’s 3 in the afternoon or right before going to bed. It’s alright to snack—just as long as you’re doing it right. However, not all foods work for everyone. Here’s a guide to what you should be snacking, based on your body type.

Endomorphs

If you have high body fat levels and have noticed that it’s easy for you to gain weight, you’re probably an endomorph. One rule-of-thumb is to eat plenty of proteins and stay away from carbs. And, it may seem counterintuitive, but you should also eat fat, focusing on mono- and polyunsaturated fats, which can be found in avocados, fish oil, and olive oil.

Ectomorphs

If your body is lean and long, and if it’s difficult for you to build fat and muscle, then you’ve got an ectomorph body type. Look for snacks that are rich in carbs, protein, and fats. (Stay away from sugar and junk food. Opt for unprocessed, starchy, and whole carbs.)

Mesomorphs

If your body is athletic and lean, you can pick high protein snacks to supplement your muscle. However, it’s best that you keep a balanced diet: 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% fat is ideal.
