Video games designed for kids are supposed to help them learn and develop their brains. Roblox is one such game that is quite popular among kids. However, one mom recently got the shock of her life when she discovered her six-year-old daughter playing in a Roblox sex room.
Why did this happen, and why did a seemingly harmless video game have such questionable content?
What Is this Roblox Sex Room that Her Daughter Stumbled Upon?
The online game Roblox is a game that allows players to create their own worlds. And while it’s meant to stimulate brains and allow players to explore different worlds and have fun, some users have used it for more sinister purposes.
Such was the case when “Peggy,” a mom from Australia, discovered that her six-year-old daughter was invited by an online friend she added on Roblox to a sex room inside the video game.
In an interview, Peggy shares, “I was sitting next to her and noticed out of the corner of my eyes that one of the characters [had] breasts, so it made me look closer.”
She continues, “Luckily she had absolutely no idea what she was looking at, but I would hate to think about what would have been said to her. I explained that they were not kids like her and that they were actually adults being naughty.”
After the incident, she updated the settings on her daughter’s Roblox account and reported the Roblox sex room. The game developer has since taken down the room.
Always Keep Your Kids Safe Online
Nowadays, many kids’ video games are played online, with other people. And while these games do have means to censor and block inappropriate content, some nefarious users have found ways to bypass this.
It’s very important for parents to take steps in order to protect their kids. Here are some useful tips to keep in mind:
- Always supervise your child whenever they’re online. If they’re playing games, watching videos or browsing, make sure that you’re also there.
- Make sure that the security features of the games your child plays are on. Some online games have filters to block mature content, and these can prove useful.
- Check that your child is playing age-appropriate games. Some games that are popular with kids might not be age-appropriate for them, so make sure to avoid those games.
- Try to lessen screen time. The less your child goes online, the less risk they have of being exposed to inappropriate content. Encourage your child to do other activities instead.
