Even for married couples, maintaining a certain degree of privacy within the marriage is important. Breaking any of these privacy rules means that there’s not a lot of trust in your relationship, and that’s not a good sign. So make sure to follow these 5 rules on privacy!

1. Don’t force them to give you their social media password

In any long-term relationship, trust is very important. Which is why some couples openly share their social media passwords with each other. And while some people like to keep some things private, that doesn’t mean that they have something to hide from their spouse.

So never ever force your spouse to share their social media password with you, as it’s a clear sign that you don’t trust your spouse enough, and that you’re paranoid that they might be doing something behind your back.

2. Don’t read their texts

Couples in a healthy marriage don’t need to see each other’s texts to make sure that there’s nothing fishy going on. In a healthy marriage, the trust is instinctive, and it doesn’t require any proof or validation for couples to trust each other.

If you’re at a point in your relationship where you’re constantly checking your husband’s phone for any suspicious messages, then you might want to rethink your relationship, as you might have some trust issues that you haven’t resolved.

3. Don’t eavesdrop on phone calls

The same thing goes for phone calls. Phone calls are conversations between 2 people, and if your wife wants you to know what she talked about on the phone, then she would tell you. There’s no need to eavesdrop, or constantly ask your wife about her phone calls.

If you accidentally eavesdrop on their call, it would be best if you went to a different place where you won’t accidentally intrude in your wife’s phone conversation.

4. Don’t check their emails

Some couples openly share their emails with each other in order to keep track of certain bills, or transactions.

However, it doesn’t mean that you can snoop around and check the emails that are addressed to your husband! This is especially true when it comes to bank emails, or anything related to your husband’s finances. If you feel that they’re hiding something, then it’s best to ask them directly instead of snooping around and trying to catch them.

5. Don’t use an app to track their location

These days, it’s fairly easy to install an app on a person’s smartphone, and use it to track their whereabouts. Parents use it to know where their kids are, and helps to keep their children safe.

However, using it in the context of a marriage just shows how little trust you have for your spouse. If you resort to tracking your spouse because you think they might be doing something behind your back, then there might be a lot of unresolved trust issues between you and your spouse that the both of you need to deal with.
