Want to save money on diapers? Try newborn potty training!

Want to save money on diapers? Try newborn potty training!

It sounds crazy, but newborn potty training is a thing, and it can help save you a lot of money since you won't have to buy a lot of disposable diapers!

Traditionally, potty training starts at around 18 months at the earliest, with some babies getting started as late as 3 years of age.

However, 2 doctors found that newborn potty training is just as effective, and maybe even better for your child! At the very least, it’ll help save you a lot of money in the process!

What is newborn potty training?

In a nutshell, newborn potty training is training your baby to use a potty instead of relying on diapers. It’s actually an old technique, called elimination communication (EC), and has been around for centuries.

When using the EC method, parents try and understand the different cues and signs of when their baby needs to use the potty, and can then take the baby to the potty instead of letting them do their business in a diaper.

Parents can also use sound cues such as a soft hum, or whistling in order to help their baby learn when to poop.

Advocates of EC say that it has been around for centuries, even before the advent of disposable diapers. They add that not only does it help save money on diapers, it significantly reduces the waste that goes out, and can also reduce chances of babies developing diaper rash, since they’re not using any diapers.

It’s not for everyone

As amazing as EC sounds, it’s not for everyone. Parents who are both working, or for single parents who need to work and leave their baby with a nanny, EC might be difficult to do as it takes a lot of effort and patience to get your child to learn when and where they should poop.

Though, you can choose not to do it all the time, as you can practice EC when you’re at home taking care of your child, and leave the rest up to your nanny when you’re at work.

But at the end of the day, it’s still up to you as a parent to choose whether or not EC is right for you. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to parenting, so trust your instincts, and do what you think is best for your child, not what other people tell you to do!
