Sesame Street's new muppet pal Julia to raise Autism awareness

The newest fuzzy friend to join the sesame street neighbourhood is Julia, a fuzzy friend who has Autism. She is the first resident of Sesame Street to have this condition.

Julia first made an appearance in the digital storybook, ‘We’re Amazing 1, 2, 3’ which is available as an app and on desktop.

As part of their campaign, ‘Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in all Children’, the character of ‘Julia’ hopes to raise Autism awareness by being a platform for change in the way kids and adults see Autism.

She is the first character of her kind to be created in the 46-year history of the beloved children’s show.

The groundbreaking idea came about as a result after the creators worked closely with organizations such as Autism Speaks and Autism Self-advocacy.

Julia will surely make the lives of Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and the other beloved muppets all the more colorful.
