What are the recommended sex positions for conceiving a baby girl?

Moms, if you want to conceive a girl, then make sure to tell your hubby all about these useful sex positions!

Moms and dads, you’re probably reading this because you want a little princess in your life. Now before you get overly excited, we first need to remind you that there’s no scientifically proven way outside of a laboratory that’ll guarantee a baby in your desired gender. There are also no surefire sex positions to conceive a girl.

But there are certain sex positions that can give you a greater chance of conceiving a girl or a boy, based on how the “male” and “female” sperm behave. This article is all about the absolute best sex positions to conceive a girl* but before we get down and dirty with them, here’s a bit about why these positions work.

You want XX all the way!

Moms, you have nothing to do with the gender of your baby as all your eggs carry the X chromosome!

Your man determines the gender of your baby, based on whether his sperm is carrying an X (girl) or Y (boy) chromosome.

If X, then this combines with your X chromosome, and voila, a little girl starts to form (XX). If Y, your XY pairing will result in a baby boy.

Before we get into the sex positions to conceive a baby girl, keep this in mind: “male” sperm are faster swimmers but have shorter lives. “Female” sperm are slower swimmers, but are much hardier and stick around for longer.

Each sex position we describe gives advantage to the “female” sperm as the one to fertilize the egg.

Are you ready?

3 Sex positions to conceive a girl

1. Missionary position

While it’s not particularly exciting or unique, a lot of people swear by the missionary position if you want to conceive a girl. The theory behind this is that the missionary position limits penetration, and thus gives an advantage to female sperm.

That’s because while female sperm are slower swimmers, they also live for much longer compared to male sperm. Restricting penetration means that sperm will take longer before they can fertilize the egg, and thus gives an advantage to the slower moving female sperm since the male sperm will die off before they reach the egg.

2. Spooning

When you and your husband are spooning, you need to lie on your side, while your husband enters you from behind. It’s called spooning because you look like spoons inside a drawer.

Just like the missionary position, this helps limit penetration since your legs prevent your husband from going in deeper.

Basically, you want the sperm to be deposited as close the vaginal opening as possible. When you do that, those “male” sperm will tire themselves out, allowing the hardier “female” sperm to meander their way along to the egg!

3. Woman on top

This tip actually works both ways in that it’s also recommended for couples who want to conceive a boy. The key thing to remember about this position is that the woman has to be the one in control of the depth of penetration.

If you want to conceive a girl, then penetration should be limited. It’s important to not let your husband go in too deep, otherwise you’re increasing the chances of conceiving a boy!

As a final tip, it’s generally recommended for women to not have an orgasm during sex if they want to have a baby girl.

The reasoning behind this is that whenever a woman orgasms, her vagina becomes more alkaline, which benefits male sperm more. Female sperm thrive in more acidic environments, so that’s another thing for moms and dads to keep in mind.
