Conceiving a baby doesn’t come easily to everyone, and if you’ve been trying for a while, it’s understandable that you would feel worried that you’re doing something wrong. Are you having too much sex? Not enough sex? Are the positions you’re having sex in ideal for conceiving? One anonymous theAsianparent Community user asked something that many are probably curious about:
Is sperm leakage a problem?
“Try asking him to ejaculate deeper inside you as it increases the chance to reach your egg,” wrote Tresa L. “Or prop a pillow below your butt to prevent leakage.”
But the fact of the matter is, though it doesn’t hurt to elevate your hips after intercourse, it will make very little difference.
“I don’t think semen leaking out will have any much bearing on whether or not the sperm reaches the egg,” Idza B. responded. “A lot of couples practice withdrawal and still get pregnant. You know what they say, all that is needed is for one to get to the target.”

The liquid that comes out when a man ejaculates is made up of many different components—sperm is one. A normal male ejaculate contains anywhere between 20 to 400 MILLION sperm. And as Idza said, all you need is one.
Ejaculate leaking out of the vagina is normal. Even if you feel like so much semen is leaking out after sex, keep in mind that thousands of sperm have probably remained in the back of the vagina, with some of them even making it through the cervix and down the fallopian tubes, where the egg is waiting.
All you need is one.
If you still feel uneasy about the amount of ejaculate leaking out, you can do what Tresa recommended, which is propping up your hips. You could also just stay in bed for 10 to 15 minutes after intercourse. You could also try positions that have been said to be ideal for couples trying to conceive. The important thing is that you not let anxiety get the better of you, and just enjoy the moment.
