Taiwanese children abused to death

In a case that has shocked the world, a Taiwanese couple have been charged with the deaths of three of their children. Apparently, they also buried the kids' bodies in different locations.

According to The Straits Time, on October 18, the father, known as Lee, admitted to beating up his two sons, aged 7, and 10 months, before they died.

He has been charged with causing injury leading to death, while the children's mother, Chen, was charged for abandonment leading to death.

Lee has not admitted to harming his 6-month-old baby girl though, and the cause of her death is still unknown.

Shockingly, Lee and Chen have escaped murder charges as Lee claimed he "had no idea" his children would die.

A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office has been quoted as saying, "Lee said he just wanted to teach the children a lesson when they were crying and screaming."

Not surprisingly, the case has sparked much public outrage, with many calling for the death penalty for this couple, describing them as "cold-blooded, horrifying parents"

Lee and Chen, it seems, are no strangers to crime. Lee is unemployed and an alcoholic, and the couple were previously wanted by police for theft and fraud offences.

In fact, police stumbled upon the deaths of the children by chance. When they finally managed to nab the couple last year and arrested them for theft and fraud, they were unable to locate the older son. That's when they got suspicious.

The couple tried to lie that he had been adopted, but their eldest daughter revealed to the police that her brother had been beaten to death. She has currently been placed in foster care with two younger siblings.

The ugly truth soon emerged.

It came to light that these parents had buried their 7-year-old son near a river in central Yunlin county, with the help of Lee's father.

The remains of the 6-month-old girl were buried in the backyard of Lee's father's home, while the 10-month old was apparently buried in northern Taoyuan.

We really can't understand how these parents were able to mete out such cruelty to their kids. Our heart goes out to the poor children who died at the hands of their own parents.
